Posted By Linda Coyle, Tuesday, December 16, 2014

On the evening of December 15, 2014 Science Foundation Arizona, led by CEO Dr. William Harris and Board of Directors celebrated the life long accomplishments of renowned technology expert Erich Bloch. The event, held in the Arizona Biltmore Grand Ballroom, began with an introduction by Dr. Harris accompanied by an inspirational presentation and acknowledgement by Erich Bloch.  Dr. John E. Kelly III, IBM Vice President and Director of IBM Research presented a keynote address extolling the amazing accomplishments of Mr. Bloch, including the creation of the IBM System 360, noted by Jim Collins (Good to Great) as one of the top three technological accomplishments of all time. When Erich Bloch created the S/360, he revolutionized technology and the way the world works. He brought the same futuristic vision, intellect & determination to Science Foundation Arizona as one of the inaugural Board Members in 2006.

The evening continued with the launch of the “Erich Bloch Speaker Series”, which featured a conversation with eminent state and national leaders, including; John Kelly, Mara Aspinall, Anita Jones and Craig Barrett as they discussed how, together, we can revolutionize Arizona’s future.

The evening concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Don Bundinger, SFAz Board Chairman outlining the road ahead for building a prosperous Arizona economy.
