“Trash” to Treasure For Teachers

The Metro Light Rail Transit Northwest Extension is a joint venture of Sundt Construction and Stacy and Witbeck. But another joint venture was created through the STEM Network between Sundt, Stacy and Witbeck, and the non-profit organization, Treasures4Teachers. Conduit pipe, wire, mesh, nuts and bolts, washers, rubber gaskets, and ABS pipe were collected from the work site and will make its way back, through this non-profit, to classrooms to support education.


Ryan Clark, site superintendent, explains the benefit for Sundt, Stacy and Witbeck, “All the crews were excited to collect the excess materials from their work trucks to put them in collection bins, as they could relate to the challenges facing the school systems and the opportunities that our materials will provide for young students who are excited to learn. Most of our crew members have school-aged kids of their own, so this program is very relatable in their own lives.”


The company plans to continue to support Treasures4Teachers with routine monthly donations, including household items collected by their employees.


“As a company we pride ourselves on not only becoming a part of the communities we work in, but in helping to better those communities in any way we can.” Clark says. “We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to partake in such a worthwhile and practical program, and it has been a positive experience from our Senior Project Manager all the way down to our laborers.”
