Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! Grants

Deadline: 9/30/2017

Project Learning Tree® (PLT), a national environmental education program for preK-12 educators and students, has grants of up to $1,000 available to schools and youth organizations for environmental service-learning projects. Students “learn by doing” through community action projects they design and implement to improve an aspect of their school or neighborhood’s environment. These environmental action projects blend community service with academic curriculum to link classroom learning to the real world. Students have planted trees, restored habitats, improved streams, constructed trails, and more. PLT also provides grants to schools to implement recycling programs, conserve water and energy, or establish school gardens or outdoor classrooms–and integrate these projects into the curriculum.

The program is open to any PLT-trained educator in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Applicants must have attended a PLT workshop online or in person. Projects must secure at least 50% matched funds and involve at least one community partner. For more information, visit www.plt.org/teacher-training-in-environmental-education. The annual deadline is September 30; apply at www.greenworks.org.

Private donations fund our operating budget, education and research efforts.
