Established in 1885, the University of Arizona is revolutionizing the fields of space sciences, optics, biosciences, medicine, arts and humanities, business, technology transfer and many others. Since it was founded, the UA has grown to cover more than 380 acres in central Tucson, a rich breeding ground for discovery.

Where else in the world can you find an astronomical observatory mirror lab under a football stadium? An entire ecosystem under a glass dome? The UA is the only university in the continental U.S. with its own radio telescope. The world's first laboratory dedicated to tree-ring research was established at the UA. It now houses more than two million pieces of wood. The College of Science was ranked #1 among observational, theoretical and space astronomy programs in the U.S. by the National Science Foundation.
