On Tuesday, August 25, 2015, CGEST hosted a working meeting to promote dialogue and broaden engagement with not-for-profits, membership organizations, professional societies, and practitioners within the STEM diversity and gender-equity ecosystem. During this dynamic and generative meeting, participants discussed:

  • mechanisms and strategies for leveraging partnerships within the Collaborative
  • shared best practices for successfully scaling programs and activities that support women and girls of color in STEM
  • shared examples of evidence-based best practices for institution change and changing culture in higher education, and in p-20
  • outlined critical components for a successful collaborative

Participant discussion was centered on these four framing questions:

  1. What examples of successful collaboratives and best practices for supporting girls and women of color in STEM currently exist?
  2. What mechanisms and strategies for leveraging partnerships within a national collaborative currently exist?
  3. What are the evidence based best practices for institutional change and changing cultures in higher education, and in p-20
  4. What examples of successfully scaled programs and activities that support women and girls of color in STEM currently exist?
