The ASU course PHY 480/PHS 530 “Methods of Teaching Physics I” (mechanics Modeling Workshop) will be offered in spring semester 2016, on TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS AFTER SCHOOL at the ASU Tempe campus. PHY 480 is for undergraduates. PHS 530 is for in-service teachers and graduate students. A non-credit option is available. Instructor is Kelli Gamez Warble, Teacher-in-Residence in the ASU Department of Physics. Prospective teachers of physics, chemistry, earth/space science, and biology are urged to take this course. It will enhance their job prospects, because schools often need a physics teacher for one or two sections. A survey of teachers reveals that this course is excellent preparation to become Highly Qualified in physics. Free or low-cost parking, light rail.
