The Arizona STEM School Community of Practice will be a first of its kind by bringing together diverse teams from STEM school communities to network, share best practices, leverage opportunities and collaboratively progress the field of STEM education in Arizona. Communities of practice are a proven model, especially in the workplace. This is why we have engaged Intel, a world leader in establishing communities of practice, to assist our efforts to create a community for STEM schools in Arizona! Additional partners include Arizona Science Center’s Freeport McMoRan Center for Leadership and Learning to provide technical assistance and the STEM Ecosystems initiative to communicate outcomes of our community to STEM leaders nationally. We anticipate the first cohort will include ~20 teams and grow to 50+ over the next couple years. Various STEM schools have already indicated their interest to apply. In addition, we have recently received attention in the Phoenix Business Journal (see article here). Next steps to get involved: 1. Check out the website to learn more about the opportunity 2. Confirm you are able to meet the program commitments including: a. Selection of your 6-10 member interdisciplinary team b. Agreement to attend the 4 meetings and 1 site visit c. Note, there is no cost to join, only your time and enthusiasm 3. Complete the application by March 15th Finalists will be noticed by March 31st. Please let me know if this is of interest to you and if you have any additional questions you would like to discuss.
