Teaching with Phenomena

It has been suggested that the new science standards can best be taught by using everyday wonderings or phenomena as a starting point. Phenomena could be an interesting observation, a wonder, or a case study. The following two resources have been developed to help you with teaching with Phenomena.

www.ngssphenomena.com - This resource is a growing list of very short films or pictures that can be used as phenomena when it is not practical or possible to have the actual event in your classroom. The phenomena starters were developed and/or vetted specifically for the NGSS standards.

Developing Phenomena Anchors for Science Standards - This one page file supported by NSF gives you a checklist when developing or finding phenomena to guide your science teaching.
