Bring On the Food! STEM, Agriculture, and You February 18, 2017 | 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Where does food come from? How can we use sustainable methods to grow it? Our hungry planet must consider options for the future. Using the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, Evaluate) participants will investigate seeds and plants, then design a classroom garden. Teachers will engage in real-world activities and immediately bring to their classrooms hands-on, minds-on approaches to learning. Walk away with these great ideas plus a $50 kit filled with supplies to make it happen. Bring it on!

Problem Solving Through the Eyes of Nature March 18, 2017 | 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Did you know that a medicine used to treat Type 2 Diabetes was inspired by the saliva of a Gila Monster, and camouflage clothing was inspired by tigers? At this workshop, you will be amazed to learn how scientists, designers, architects, and many others are inspired by nature to solve human problems. This is called biomimicry! Through hands-on and minds-on activities, you will learn ways to inspire your students to solve human problems through the lens of nature. You will leave this workshop with a $50 STEMAZing kit with materials that will allow you to begin these biomimicry activities on Monday morning.
