Support the Schools in YOUR Community Today!

Who is a STEM Advocate?

STEM Advocates are individuals, businesses and industry organizations that work with teachers, schools and districts to advance real-world learning opportunities and career exploration for students.

How Does the Program work?

The STEM Advocates program makes it easy for business volunteers to get involved with schools. Businesses don’t have to spend hours figuring out who to contact or which programs could use their expertise. Schools don't have to cold call businesses to find volunteers. We facilitate matches between businesses and schools or non-profits with proven education programs . Through our partnership with the national CEO-led initiative Change the Equation, the educational programs we support have demonstrated a strong return on investment. Whether your goal is to advance project-based STEM learning, provide real world professional development activities for teachers, or match students with internships, we can help you find the right partner. You will also have access to an online partner database to share your experiences and learn from others.

What are the STEPS for Businesses to Engage with Schools?  Introducing the "CTEq Work-based Learning Guide":

Businesses in every industry need workers with strong STEM skills, but employers often struggle to find these workers. One critical way to help bridge the STEM skills gap: supporting work-based learning opportunities for students during the K-12 years. This guide is aimed at helping employers understand the ins and outs of work based learning—and how to make it successful for businesses and students alike. Most work-based learning guides are for people in schools or school districts. This one is designed specifically for corporate volunteer coordinators and STEM professionals who want to help K-12 students better understand STEM in the work place. The goal of the guide is to help you ensure that work-based learning experiences deliver on the promise of getting students excited about STEM careers while expanding their understanding of the skills today’s workers need to succeed.
