How is it done?

  • Continuously work with Industry Partners to make sure that students are acquiring the knowledge necessary for employment

  • Off-campus Opportunities:  Human Resources offers College Central Network (CCN) (http://www.collegecentral.com/cochise/ as the official platform for connecting off campus employers with Cochise College students and alumni

  • On-campus Opportunities:  Human Resources has numerous jobs available on campus each semester on the college’s internal Cochise College Job Postings link: https://cochise.hiretouch.com/search-jobs

  • Have administration and faculty who are willing to make necessary changes

  • Encourage students to perform academically

  • Budget:  Varies and includes all aspects of the college structure


What are the results?

  • Better qualified students that industries hire more quickly

  • Companies willingly hire students because of skills and knowledge they gain from the college education


What have we learned?

  • Both the College and its industry partners are learning a lot about each other.

  • Reaping the benefits of industry engagement and internships is demanding and best addressed by hiring a dedicated industry coordinator.

  • Persistence is key to understanding industry needs and providing them with valuable students

  • Industry partners outreach directly to college for hiring opportunities

  • Best practice for college to be open to changes in curriculum
