What is it?

 

General information about transferring courses to in-state and other partner universities is available online at Cochise College’s website and with advisors


How is it done?

  • Each transfer program has specific instructions regarding curriculum and transfer procedures and students can verify with an advisor the best study plan to meet the requirements of other universities

  • College advisors stay informed on transfer agreements with other colleges and universities

  • Students attending Arizona public community colleges can see how their coursework will transfer to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona through the general information available online through the Course Equivalency Guide (CEG)

  • AZTransfer provides information regarding policies and procedures for transferring credits from community colleges to the public universities in the state of Arizona

  • The Shared Unique Number (SUN) System helps students identify courses that will directly transfer among Arizona’s community colleges and three public universities


What are the results?

  • Reduced tuition fees by maximizing courses taken at Cochise College

  • Easier for students to obtain a bachelor’s degree

  • Partnerships with instate universities have been designed to make it easier and more affordable to transfer credits with Cochise College

  • Point ASU is a partnership between Cochise College and Arizona State University where students can complete up to 60 credit hours before transferring

  • Cochise2NAU is an award-winning joint admission program between Cochise College and Northern Arizona University with expert guidance to maximize Cochise College credits; NAU admissions application fee waiver; access to NAU early enrollment; access to both college’s library resources; NAU email account and ID card; free admission to NAU athletic events in Flagstaff; merit-based scholarships for those who qualify

  • Articulation agreements have been made with several other private and public colleges and universities and often provide seamless transfer for specific disciplines


What have we learned?

  • Access to the Online Transfer Guide enables students to determine what courses are transferable eliminating potential problems
  • Partnerships with universities can make an impact on continuing education
  • Knowledgeable advisors are important
  • Online Transfer Guides aid students in transferring to other educational institutes outside of Arizona
