What is it?


College offers STEM degrees designed for direct employment or transferring to universities.

How is it done?

  • Curriculum coordination with industry partners, faculty, and administration approved by the Vice President/Provost of the college and curriculum committee

  • Consider all possibilities of students transferring to a university in the future and making students prepared for immediate work environment

  • Offer a wide range of programs to train students to meet the demands of the rapidly changing fields of employment

  • Continuously work with industry partners to coordinate skills necessary for employment

  • Recruit students to programs

  • Programs are available for Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees depending upon student direction

  • Budget:  Varies and includes all aspects of the college structure

What are the results?

  • Design of a new Engineering Technology degree

  • Include skill training necessary for employment within the local area

  • Implementation of the program is forecasted for fall semester 2014-2015

  • Enthusiasm of Industry Partners and faculty

What have we learned?

  • Industry partner had similar ideas even in completely different industries

  • Excitement by all represented companies about the resulting impact on employment and qualified students

  • Faculty and industry partners appreciate being able to voice their opinions

  • The college needs to be flexible in making opportunities for students
